What is a wine gift box?

A wine gift box is a one-time gift of Canadian wine. You choose red, white or mixed, pick a box of 2, 3, 6 or 12 bottles, and it goes to your recipient's door. The wine is VQA-certified and comes from one Canadian winery. You pay once, and nothing renews.

What's inside a wine gift box

Each box comes from one winery we featured in the club that month, picked by our team of Canadian wine experts. Most come from Niagara or the Okanagan.

Each box carries a tasting note card for the wines inside, with notes, ratings and food pairing ideas. The same boxes also appear in our gift baskets collection.

One-time box or gift subscription?

The choice comes down to how long you want the gift to last.

  • A one-time box: a gift for a birthday, a thank-you or a housewarming.
  • A gift subscription: prepaid for 3, 6 or 12 months, with a different Canadian winery each month. Good for someone who would enjoy opening a box every month.

What VQA means on the label

VQA is short for Vintners Quality Alliance, a quality mark on Canadian wine. In Ontario, VQA Ontario describes a tasting panel that checks the wine for faults before the label goes on.

When a wine gift box arrives

Boxes ship shortly after the 15th of each month and usually reach your recipient in the third week of the month you order. The cut-off is the 15th. Order on the 16th and your gift ships the following month.

So for a birthday on the 20th, order early in the month before.

Choosing between red, white or mixed

Send red if that's what they order at dinner. Send white if they like a crisp glass on the patio. If you have no idea, mixed is an easy pick.

All three ship the same way. Only the wine changes.

What's included in a wine gift box?

How is a wine gift box packed?

In a sturdy cardboard box. Cardboard holds up in transit better than wicker would.

Can I add a gift message?

Yes. Use the gift message field on the product page, and your message goes in the email, the box, or both. Add an email address and we notify your recipient. Leave it off if it's a surprise.

Can I send a wine gift box to another province?

Yes. We deliver across Canada but not to Yukon, Nunavut or the Northwest Territories. Shipping is calculated at checkout, and remote addresses can cost more.

Does a wine gift box renew?

No. A box is a one-time gift. For monthly wine, see a gift subscription.

Who can sign for the box?

Someone of legal drinking age in the province it ships to, and carriers may ask for ID. Ship it to an office or another address if nobody will be home.
