For over 40 years, Tony Aspler has been the defining voice of Canadian wine—writing with clarity, wisdom, and genuine passion. As the Toronto Star’s wine columnist for 21 years and author of 16+ books (including The Wine Atlas of Canada and Tony Aspler’s Cellar Book), Tony combines scholarly authority with a storyteller’s charm.

He’s also penned nine wine-themed fiction novels and earned both the Order of Canada (2007) and the Queen’s Jubilee Medal (2012) for his service to wine culture. A tireless champion of community, Tony co-founded Grapes for Humanity—supporting landmine survivors and children with disabilities through wine events.

As the founder of the Ontario Wine Awards and an honorary governor of Cuvée, he strengthens connections between growers and consumers. He contributes to Wine SpectatorDecanterWine Business International, and more—and you can catch his lively wine commentary every weekend on 680 News.
