St. Hubertus & Oak Bay Estate Winery Wines 2018
July 2018
Okanagan Valley, British Columbia
The St Hubertus: Oak Bay Vineyards were originally planted in 1928 By J.W. Hughes during a time when agricultural land was plentiful. Since 1984 the Gebert Family has used sustainable farming practices to produce 100% estate grown wines that reflect the terroir of the North Okanagan Valley, to show off the complexity associated with the old world, but with the clean fresh fruit flavours of the new world.
The result is a collection of authentic and memorable wines under the St Hubertus and Oak Bay labels.

Comment:
This BC winery is eponymously named for their two vineyards, St. Hubertus and Oak Bay, located in Kelowna. Owned by the Gebert family since 1984, the quality of wine that is produced every year continues to raise the bar. At our recent tasting, all of their wines were ranked very highly, even eliciting 91 points from the esteemed wine critic, Tony Aspler.
The 2016 Goddess is a refreshing white blend. Largely Gewürztraminer, notes of lychee and rose combine beautifully with the muscat notes of Schönburger. The result is a unique, off-dry wine that is a heavenly sipper.

This unfiltered Pinot was aged in French barrels with wild yeast. It has great structure and flavour, but could still use a few years of cellaring to loosen up the tannins. Enjoy!

A truly elevated wine, this Schönburger is nuanced and balanced with layers of muscat notes, baking spice, and white flowers. It’s drinking perfectly right now. Lucky wine club recipients, you are in for a treat!
