With over 326 wineries in British Columbia, choosing our favourites is a near-impossible task. Still, with over 15 years of featuring local wineries in our Wine of the Month Club, we have a pretty good idea of which ones stand out from the crowd with the consistent production of quality wines.
In this post, we will reveal our list of the best BC wineries, which have all been included and sampled by our wine club members in previous boxes. Check out our wine club subscription options and begin exploring the best wineries in BC, with new deliveries arriving at your door each month.

1. Summerhill Pyramid Winery
With its beautiful hillside setting and a tasting hall overlooking the striking scenery of Okanagan Lake, the Summerhill Pyramid Winery is a must-visit vineyard in Okanagan Valley. However, even if you can't make the journey out to its Kelowna location, this local producer's wines are well worth the grab whenever you get the opportunity.
As Canada's largest organic winery and a premier producer of sparkling wine, the Summerhill Pyramid Winery offers some of the most unique and satisfying bottles you will find in Canada. The winery is open to tastings and tours and has been featured prominently in previous wine club boxes.
2. Gray Monk Estate Winery
Established in 1972, the Gray Monk Estates Winery has been a staple of British Columbia's winemaking industry for over half a century. It boasts 75 acres of lush vineyards overlooking Okanagan Lake, creating one of the most surreal spots for booking a wine-tasting tour.
Along with the premium grapes sourced from their property, the winery works with other vineyards across the Okanagan Valley to produce some of the finest quality wines from BC's wine regions. These include several award-winning VQA wines last featured in our March 2022 subscription boxes.

3. Red Rooster Winery
Set within the rolling hills of Naramata and overlooking Okanagan Lake, the Red Rooster Winery is another exceptional British Columbia winery that deserves recognition.
Despite being tucked away in the southern reaches of the Okanagan Valley, this local hotspot has become a destination in itself for sampling its unique winemaking approaches. It has garnered numerous accolades, including being a six-time recipient of the Lieutenant Governor's Award of Excellence.
While the views from the winery's tasting room are striking and worth the visit, those looking to sample its award-winning wines can find them online or enjoy unique vintages with Wine Club Canada.
4. Black Hills Estate Winery
Focusing on terroir-centric Rhone and Bordeaux varietal wines, the Black Hills Estate Winery is one of the most meticulous winemakers in British Columbia. The vineyard is located in one of the most acclaimed winemaking sites in Canada, the Black Sage Bench, and only uses organic farming practices to ensure each bottle is crafted with the highest quality grapes in the country.
The vineyard's remote setting makes for a fun weekend getaway, with the winery open for tours and even overnight guests. Meanwhile, those looking to try the winery's award-winning bottles without the fuss can find the vintages last included in our July 2019 wine subscription box for order online.

5. SpearHead Winery
Voted the 'Best Performing Small Winery' and 'Winery of the Year in 2024' by the National Wine Awards of Canada, SpearHead Winery embodies all of the values we look for in a Wine Club Canada-featured operation.
Consisting of six vineyards scattered throughout the Okanagan Valley, this local winery highlights the wine region's distinct terroir properties, with small-batch varieties fermented using grapes from their unique "single vineyard" program.
The winery is best known for its award-winning Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris, last enjoyed in our April 2021 wine club boxes.
6. Hillside Winery
Founded in 1984, Hillside Winery is one of the original farm-gate wineries established in the now coveted Naramata Bench. Over the past four decades, the winery has perfected its terroir-driven, small-lot winemaking processes that showcase the best of the region's rich soils.
Wine club members loved the unique vintages in our May 2021 wine delivery, and since then, the winery's productions have only improved. Engaging complex soils, long growing days, and well-refined winemaking practices, the Hillside Winery is a favourite for fruit-forward wines that capture the essence of the Naramata region.

7. Bench 1775 Winery
Boasting ten vineyards scattered up and down the Okanagan and Similkameen Valleys, Bench 1775 has become a staple for BC wine enthusiasts. The winery produces a massive selection of award-winning varieties using only grapes grown on their own properties. Still, its most celebrated claim to fame is its late-harvest wines.
Along with the Kalala Organic Estate Winery, Bench 1775 is one of the two operations in British Columbia producing icewine and late-harvest wines.
While Canada has become famous for these sweet dessert wines, the industry has largely been led by Ontario wineries. Luckily, Bench 1775 has put BC icewines on the map, along with its great collection of red and white wines.
8. Tinhorn Creek Vineyard
Tinhorn Creek Vineyard is the first winery in Canada to support carbon-neutral measures in their winemaking practices. And with vineyards located in both the Black Sage and Golden Mile Benches, it doubles its commitment to crafting high-quality wines and preserving the terroir properties of the south Okanagan regions.
Started as a husband and wife operation, Tinhorn Creek has grown into one of the best wineries in British Columbia. Today, it boasts a diverse catalogue of award-winning wines that have made it a favourite of Wine Club Canada members, most recently featuring in our January 2024 subscription box.

9. Backyard Vineyards
Leaving the Okanagan Valley behind, the next entry on this list operates a little closer to Vancouver. Located in the township of Langley in the Fraser Valley, Backyard Vineyards lives true to its name and carries a distinctly local community feel.
However, despite its small-town ambiance, this boutique producer has grown into one of the best wineries in British Columbia, consistently crafting award-winning wines using grapes 100% sourced from their vineyards.
Backyard Vineyards has been featured numerous times in our wine club features over the years, most recently appearing as our wine of the month for April 2024.
10. Sandhill Wines
Sandhill Wines is another renowned British Columbia winery known for crafting high-quality wines. They use locally grown grapes sourced from their six Okanagan vineyards, each carrying their distinct soil compositions.
The winery prides itself on its unique winemaking processes, designed to accentuate the terroir properties of each grape-growing region, ensuring each bottle exemplifies the unique characteristics of its sub-appellation. Wine club members last enjoyed the Okanagan flavours of Sandhill Wines in our November 2022 wine club delivery.
