Best Wine Clubs in Canada 2026: An Honest Comparison

A friend called in July asking which wine club to get her brother for his fortieth. She'd already walked the LCBO and come out with nothing she felt good about. Easy question, she figured. It isn't. There are at least eight options in Canada right now, built for genuinely different people.

So we didn't pick one overall winner. We compared eight clubs on three things you can actually check: how Canadian the wine is, what it costs once shipping is in, and where it ships. Who does the picking, how easy it is to stop, and how much you learn come up club by club, wherever they change the answer. Wine Club Canada runs this page, and the same team runs My Wine Canada, which is also on the list. Both of those are declared in our own section below, along with every single place a club here beats us. That list is longer than we'd like.

The short answer: it depends what you want

If you want Canadian wine only and you'd rather the month's winery was chosen for its story than for your palate, that's Wine Club Canada. If you'd rather it was chosen for your palate, that's My Wine Canada, also Canadian-only and also one winery a month. 1. Wine Club Canada

This is us, so take the specifics and judge for yourself. Every box features one Canadian winery, chosen by our panel, with that winery's own story built right into the copy. Box sizes run 2, 3, 6 or 12 bottles, from $90 up to $440, with taxes included and shipping quoted at checkout. There's no membership fee, you can pause or cancel any time, and we ship across the country, though a remote address can carry an extra monthly charge.

What we don't compromise on is the Canadian-only mandate. Every bottle in every box comes from a Canadian producer. There's no international portfolio here with a few Canadian bottles mixed in for good measure. If you're still unsure Canadian wine deserves a whole club built around it, we've written about that directly. Where we lose

Four clubs here start cheaper than our $90, and ours is before delivery where two of theirs aren't: Marquis at about $63 with its $15.99 delivery counted, Great Estates from $50 plus $9.99 on its two-bottle monthly tier, WineCollective at $57.24 with delivery built in and Amazing Clubs at $69.95 with delivery built in. My Wine Canada asks $95 for three bottles where we ask $120 for three, and both of us quote shipping at checkout, so that $25 is a straight loss on a like-for-like box. Opimian's claimed Masters of Wine panel outranks our own on paper credentials, and Opimian puts roughly fifty wines in front of you ten times a year and lets you choose among them, where we send the one winery we chose. My Wine Canada matches bottles to a palate quiz and we don't do that. Two of these clubs have a room you can walk into, Marquis on Davie Street and WineCollective in southeast Calgary, and we have none. Amazing Clubs is the better gift, because a fixed term ends by itself and ours keeps going until somebody stops it. Great Estates gives you five wineries you get to know over a year, where we hand you a new one every month and you may not want a new one every month. And Monthly Sommelier lets you set the contents, the frequency and the price yourself, which we don't offer at all.

2. Opimian

Opimian has been running since 1973 and describes itself as member-owned and non-profit, which shows in the depth of the list. Its own site credits the selections to a panel of eight Masters of Wine, among them Michael Palij, and says it has served more than 250,000 Canadians over the five decades since it started. Ten times a year you get a Cellar Offering, a brochure of roughly fifty wines, and about five weeks to order from it by the case.

The catch is the wait. Orders go to the producers after you place them, and the wine reaches you through your provincial liquor board. Opimian puts that window at four to eight months. Canadian liquor law also locks delivery to the province you ordered from, so a move across a border mid-wait is a real complication. Membership is $99 a year plus tax, with a one-time $40 initiation fee on top, before any wine at all. What a case then lands at is the one price on this page we can't give you, since it depends on the wine and on your liquor board's cut. Pick this one if you want depth and can plan a year ahead. A box on your porch by next Tuesday is not what this club does.

3. My Wine Canada

Full disclosure before the facts: My Wine Canada is run by the same team as Wine Club Canada. It's Canadian-only too, but it starts from a different question, which is what you like to drink. A two-minute taste quiz feeds the match, and you get three bottles from one Canadian winery a month for $95, no membership fee, with pause and cancel handled from your account. Their shipping is quoted at checkout and sits on top of that price, the same way ours does.

The two clubs split on one question: who the month's winery is chosen for. We choose it for the story and hand it to you unasked. My Wine Canada chooses it against your quiz answers, which is why the quiz runs before the first box does.

4. WineCollective

WineCollective has been shipping out of Calgary since 2009 and leans hard into variety, with wine sourced from around the world across five tiers. The entry box is two bottles at $57.24 a month, the six-bottle box is $135.74, and the top tier is four premium bottles at $155.74. Delivery is built into every price, and they ship from Calgary to most of the country, with the exception of provinces whose rules block bringing wine in from another one. There's a physical store in southeast Calgary, and collecting your box there instead takes $15 a month off.

If international variety matters to you more than a Canadian-only mandate, this is the one to look at first. It is also among the cheapest entry points on the list.

5. Amazing Clubs

Amazing Clubs is built for gifting first. You choose the length up front, three months, six, twelve, or a seasonal run, and it stops there on its own. No forgotten subscription still charging a card in March. There's an ongoing option too, which runs until you cancel it, so pick the fixed term if the gift is the point. Each shipment brings two full-sized international bottles, and the monthly rate drops the longer you commit: $79.95 on the three-month club, $69.95 on the twelve. Shipping is free within Canada and deliveries land in the last week of the month.

Each shipment comes with a newsletter, and that is the extent of the education on offer. What you are buying is a delivery that arrives on time and stops on the date you set.

6. Monthly Sommelier

Monthly Sommelier skips the fixed tier entirely. You build the box yourself, at whatever frequency and price point suits you, with a sommelier curating inside those parameters by their own description. Their site was down every time we tried it this month, so treat their current shipping terms and pricing as something to confirm at checkout rather than anything we've checked.

That flexibility is the whole pitch, and it asks more decisions of you than a fixed tier does. Every other club on this list makes those decisions before the box is packed.

7. Great Estates (Ontario)

Great Estates draws from five wineries in one group: Jackson-Triggs, Inniskillin, Kew, Sandbanks and Le Clos Jordanne. Four are Niagara, Sandbanks is Prince Edward County, and the range across them is real. Packages start at $50, the two-bottle monthly tier carries a flat $9.99 shipping charge, and the four-bottle monthly plans ship free. There's no membership fee, though each of its clubs asks for a minimum of two shipments before you can walk away.

Check the map before you commit. Club shipments currently reach Ontario, Manitoba, British Columbia and Nova Scotia only. You trade novelty for depth here: five established wineries you come to know over a year of shipments, which is a different pleasure from opening a name you've never heard of.

8. Marquis Wine Club

Marquis has run a shop on Davie Street in Vancouver for about four decades. Theme packages run from a $47 two-bottle Date Night box to Wine Legends, three age-worthy bottles a month at $265, with a Signature Series you can size anywhere from three to twelve bottles. Orders over $249.99 before tax ship free. Below that, delivery is $15.99, so the $47 Date Night box lands at about $63 a month. You can collect from the store instead of waiting in.

Geography is the limit. Marquis delivers anywhere in BC and nowhere else, so it's out if you live east of the Rockies. It's the only one of these clubs with a room in BC you can walk into and ask questions in.

How to pick which is right for you

Start with one question: do you want Canadian wine specifically, or just good wine generally? If it's Canadian and you like being handed a winery you didn't already know, pick Wine Club Canada for one deep story a month, or Great Estates if you'd sooner get to know five wineries and you live in one of its four provinces. If it's Canadian and you want the picks matched to your own taste, My Wine Canada. If you're open to international bottles, your next question is budget and geography. WineCollective and Amazing Clubs both start under $80 a month, and both undercut us. Amazing Clubs ships within Canada; WineCollective reaches most of the country, but not the provinces that restrict what can cross a provincial line. Marquis only ships in BC, so it's out everywhere else. And if depth of expertise matters more than speed, the Masters of Wine panel Opimian claims is the strongest credential anyone here puts forward, as long as you're fine waiting months for the wine.

One buying tip that applies across all of them: Canadian doesn't automatically mean quality-controlled. Look for VQA certification, short for Vintners Quality Alliance, which means every grape came from a designated growing area in that province and the wine was made to that province's standard. Ontario's rules are set out by VQA Ontario, and British Columbia runs its own.

Every price above came off each club's own site this month, with two exceptions we'd rather name than bury: Monthly Sommelier's, which we couldn't reach at all, and Marquis's $15.99 delivery rate, which its site doesn't publish and the shop gave us directly. Is Wine Club Canada the best one?

It depends what you're after. We're the strongest option if you want a Canadian-only club with a story behind every bottle. If you want the Masters of Wine credentials Opimian claims, a cheaper entry price, taste-matched picks, a physical shop or a box you build yourself, one of the other seven clubs above will serve you better, and we've listed all of it in our own section.

How do these compare to just buying from the LCBO or SAQ?

A wine club gets you into small producers a provincial liquor store rarely stocks. Retail shelf space tends to go to large-volume suppliers who can guarantee quantity, which leaves a lot of good small-batch Canadian wine with nowhere to be seen. That's the gap a club fills.

Which club makes the best gift?

For the friend who called in July, we said Amazing Clubs, because a fixed term ends without anyone having to remember to cancel it. Wine Club Canada if the recipient would enjoy one winery's story each month, or My Wine Canada if you'd rather the picks were matched to their taste.
